Whilst trawling the web for sleep related articles as we regularly do here at Browns for Beds, we stumbled across the free 'Sleep Cycle' app, available on both iOS and android. Despite having a premium paid version, you can access the core benefits of the app for free. Using either movement or sound to track your sleep, the app provides useful insights into your sleeping patterns whilst also promising to wake you gently each morning, in place of a regular alarm. Garnering a score of 4.5 out of 5 on the Play Store from over 80,000 reviews, we thought we should put it to the test ourselves. Check back later for an update and our verdict on the 'Sleep Cycle' app, or try it for yourself and let us know how you get on in the comments below.

Check out this excellent article from the folks at Which?, which provides expert guidance on keeping your mattress in tip top condition.
You may be surprised by how un-hygenic your mattress can become if left without regular cleaning. As stated in the article; "...according to The Sleep Council, the average adult loses 285ml of fluid each night. We also shed around 454g of dead skin over the course of a year, much of which ends up nestled in your bed. That's not all. The average bed contains 10,000 dust mites, produce more than two million droppings, which can aggravate allergies. It's no wonder The Sleep Council say that a dirty mattress can contain worrying levels of staphylococcus, enterococcus, norovirus and even MRSA." Yuck!...

Continuing our commitment to bringing you features, articles and products aimed at improving your sleep, here we have the latest solution from Bose for you to consider.
Sleepbuds from Bose are the latest in a long line of gadgets aimed at helping relax you into a state of sleep. More specifically they are aimed at those struggling to get to sleep in noisy environments such as planes, hotels and homes in busy cities. Designed to be small and comfortable, fitting inside your ears, they claim to be unobtrusive to wear, even for side sleepers. With 16hrs per charge in their dedicated charging case, they should provide 2 nights of use per charge, playing pre-loaded soothing music and sounds to help you drift away, without the distraction of exterior noises. At £229.95 from Bose they certainly aren't cheap, however like many other products from Bose they live up to their price tag. Techradar gave them a 4 star review with only the price and the fact they aren't a complete cure to sleeplessness costing them the full 5 stars. You can try them for 30 days risk free direct from Bose.

Trouble sleeping? Like many of us, you may find yourself occassionally or indeed regularly failing to get a great night's sleep, leaving you tired and fatigued. Of the numerous sleeping aids on the market, an app called Calm available on iOS and Android claims to help you do just that. In fact, it was voted App of the Year by Apple in 2017. Available with an initial free trial, the App provides several features designed to help you relax and achieve better sleep. It even features bedtime stories voiced by well known voices to help you drift away (yes, these are meant for adults too...).
Try it yourself for free and let us know how you get on. Just search 'calm' in the App Store or Google Play Store.
