Where mattresses are concerned, it often takes a few days to get used to the feel of your new mattress. Where a mattress has a memory foam comfort layer, the feel of this can often be initially confused as a lack of support. Indeed the opposite it true. These upper comfort layers are designed to mould to your body, where you will feel that you sink into the mattress more than you would on a traditional model. This is normal and not indicative of a fault. It is also common to see a dip in a new mattress after a few weeks of daily use, typically where your hips rest. This is normal. The mattress is simply settling based on your weight and sleeping position. Manufacturers apply various scales for this to determine what is normal settlement and acceptable versus what could be considered a fault. You can view our scale here.
Another common query we get concerns an uneven sleeping surface on traditional pocket-sprung and open-coil mattresses, again this usually does not indicate a problem with the mattress. Settlement of natural fibres can lead to an uneven surface that is easily remedied through regular rotation of the mattress, or flipping of the mattress where it is dual-sided. Following this practise regularly whilst using a mattress protector will ensure the long and trouble-free life of your mattress.
For the avoidance of doubt, we will only replace a mattress found to have a manufacturing defect or fault during its warranty period. We will not exchange or refund a mattress due to normal settlement/body impressions.
